Steadicam

Steadicam

The introduction of Steadicam in 1976 revolutionized film and video industry. Over the past 3 decades, Steadicam has been an invaluable, dynamic production tool in the industry. New generations of Steadicam Camera Stabilizing Systems have been comprehensively redesigned to unleash endless creative possibilities.

Dirk SteadicamSteadicam is a harness which allows the operator to keep the camera very steady while the operator may be running or even climbing stairs. This is different to using dollies since there are no tracks to lie before you can start, you do not have to keep the terrain flat allowing more flexibility and freedom of movement.

Steadicam also have the advantage of giving a floating feel to the footage, granting much more production value.

Steadicam is being used in all the major films and some new series for TV.

Dirk Theron of Dirk Theron Productions, is a Steadicam Operator trained by Garrett Brown, the inventor of Steadicam as well as 6 world class Steadicam operators.
